Stroll of Light Spots

The "psychological" presentation of emotion in painting is an internal medium for the artist's individual concepts and sensitive neurons, just like a language with a distinctive density and depth. Between magic and reality, the scattered and faint presence of light spots consistently permeates Liu Guanchen's paintings. The forms and colors also reveal his inherent mark of extracting and transforming the attributes of various living objects within the physical state of reality.

Judging from Liu Guanchen's recent works, a process of separating or dismembering objects is slowly frozen by him. He moves towards the magnificent spectacle of the earth, the gentle rhythm of breeze and drizzle, and even the forgotten strolling time and beautiful traces of sounds and images consumed in Pompeii. The light spots of existing things always float beneath the surface of real life. Silent intuition is his way of recounting a natural experience of a certain fragment of life and death. This re-presentation of the picture's imagery stems from finding a self-constructed ideal mirroring practice and code of conduct between "light spots and strolling."

The scattered output of light spots is not only reflected in the division and flow of color fields arranged on the canvas, but also in the profound, "monolithic" layered forms and dislocated structural sequences that roam freely within them. Heavy, bright color blocks are spread across the surface, and smooth, dynamic brushstrokes rise and fall among these light spots. The barriers between physical reality and imaginative magic are instantly connected, until they collapse. All sounds are silenced. The silent landscape image appears even more vital and infectious with another layer of meaning.

光 斑 的 漫 步


绘画艺术之于情感的“心理”呈现,是艺术家个体观念和敏感神经元的内在媒介,一如具有特质密度和深度的语言一般。在魔幻与现实之间,光斑的零散隐现,始终贯穿于刘冠辰的绘画作品中,形色之间亦透露着他对现实体态下多类生活物本身的属性扼取及嬗变语言的内在标识。


从刘冠辰的近作来看,一种分离或肢解物象的行径过程被他缓慢定格下来,趋实于大地的壮观景象和微风细雨下的绵柔气韵,甚至是被遗忘在庞贝古城消磨的漫步时光和丽影音迹。存在物的光斑,时刻漂浮在现实生命的表征下,沉默的直觉是他转述对生与死的某个片段的自然体验,而这种图景的观象再现,则是源于在“光斑与漫步”之间找寻出的一种自我构建理想镜像的实践方式和行为准则。


光斑的散点输出,不仅体现在画面以分割流溢的色域来展开排列,深邃类如“单一”的造型叠层和错位的结构顺序在其中自由漫步。厚重、光鲜的色域组块遍布于其中之表,平缓灵动的笔触走势起伏在这些光斑中。物理的现实与想象的魔幻壁垒瞬间勾连,直至崩碎,万籁俱寂,无声的景观图像,显得更具另一重生命性和感染力。
